Hello all,

Not sure where to post this so if its wrong I apologise! Just a quick question really about this product called Almased. Has anyone tried it when trying to lose weight? It is being advertised in Balance magazine so wondering if it is suitable for T2 Diabetics.

Thanks

Never heard of it so I looked it up. Apparently the FDA in America made them remove claims that it reduced BG and was beneficial to diabetics.

Anecdotal evidence says that many people think it tastes disgusting. A couple of the review sites say it seems very odd that there is no reference to any possible side effects on their website, esp when a lot of folk seem to be saying eg I had the runs or I was constipated! LOL

Finally this comment is made on one review website - and I think it's VERY good advice when contemplating any such thing!

Caution:
Avoid if pregnant or breast feeding (standard advice for all supplements)
See your doctor first if you suffer from hyperthyroidism or diabetes and if you are taking medication for high blood pressure, heart disease or similar. According to Almased, interactions are rare but soy may interfere with thyroid function and you may need to change your medication if you are diabetic.
Men need to take care when taking soy supplements as this substance can affect testosterone and fertility levels.

The same website also remark that it seems expensive, I have no idea whether it is or isn't.

Just because a company has paid for an advert in 'Balance' does not signify one iota that DUK endorse the product. Lots of things advertised 'could' be useful to somebody or another - it's not within DUK's ability or ambit - to assess whether it would be any use to you or me!
