I now have a broken wrist/thumb (scaphoid to be specific). It is giong Otto be fun giong through security when I won't want to go through X-rays but have a plaster cast on!!

Oh no, how did you do that.

Airport security must have had to deal with people with plaster casts and reasons not to go through arches. Can you take any documentation about your wrist fracture as well eg A&E discharge letter, so support your case, in addition to usual pump documentation?

I broke my scafoid (iPad wants me to say seafood) in 1982. Apparently because it's a soft bone it can take a bit longer to heal. I hope it's not too painful. As Copepod says they must have casts all the time but if they want you to go through the body scanner that could, as you say, be interesting. Good luck!

They will just xray you won't they, through one of those scanners? 🙂 It's terrible only having one working arm, when I broke my elbow I couldn't even cut an onion! Nightmare. How the heck do you secure the onion? I lost weight and no wonder. :D Get better soon.

I think SB wears a pump, which there has recently been a thread about- the general consensus is we shouldn't go through whole body scanners!

Oh right, that's no good then! They might have to poke about with a bent coathanger in that case. :D

Coathanger was smashing for getting to itches when I fractured my leg as a whippersnapper. :D

Maybe contact the airline and explain the situation ahead of time rather than just turning up on the day?
