Hi wonder if any one can help or has had same. For the last six weeks everytime I do any excersises or get hot running about at work. (work in school kitchen)
I get a heat rash we raised red bumps itchy hands ect.
I am going go gp just awaiting an appointment 😉
My sugers are usually between 5.6-7.4 ish
I try to keep low carb
No bread rice pasta so forth
Is this a side effect of diabetes
Or am I worrying for nothing :(

Hi Gimli - Do you have a pic of your nasty little rash at all? The only reason I ask is you specifically mention your hands? Does the rash only appear when you get hot? How quickly does it resolve itself, once you're out of the kitchen, for example?

On the rare times I've had heat rashes, in the Tropics, it has usually manifested in the body folds, like around armpits, crooks of elbow and so on. I can't say I particularly remember my hands being impacted, but in the bigger scheme of things, my experiences my not mean anything.

A heat rash can appear anywhere.

Best treatment is something simple like calamine lotion. Don’t use any scented soaps or bath and shower gel, and don’t take hot baths or showers. Rubber gloves are a nightmare. If you have to use them, wear thin cotton under-gloves.

It’s nothing to do with diabetes, for sure. I guess there was an epidemic of this in the summer, it’s as common as sweaty jobs.

Heat rash on hands and areas exposed to the sun is quite common.
Small raised bumps, where the sweat can't clear and evaporate quickly enough.

Skin folds, dark sweaty areas can be fungal as well as heat rash though.

Thank you all I shall try to get a pic and it is when I'm hot also I'm in middle of menapaus so heat flushes too
Driving me insane with the itch but I have an appointment in two weeks :(

You might find antihistamines helpful with the itch, so I’d try that while you’re waiting. A cool bath or shower will help, too🙂
