This has come up before, but what does everyone do to advertise and spread the word about this forum?

I have put posters up in a variety of places, including one in my front window. Whenever I take a bag of magazines down to our doctors I put the little handouts into the medical related magazines for people to find.

I also have the webadress at the end of most of the emails I send and carry a couple of fliers to hand to people if they ask.

Next week when I go to meet DESMOND I am taking a poster and some fliers with me to give this site a plug too.

I have just printed off a batch of fliers and a couple of posters to make sure I don't run out of things.

So what does everyone else do?

When I attended my carb counting type course, about 2 years ago.....I gave all the other diabetics the details of the forum. Don't think my DSN and course team were too happy....strange eh! I think they thought I was a little 'direct'....mois? :D

There are handouts/flyers? I didn't know, where did you get them?

If you go tot he top of the page and click on down loads, you can print as many as you like.

I usually just do the word of mouth thing with anyone I meet who is un-aware of the forum.

I didn't even realise that there were downloadable flyers we could print 😛

Word of mouth is good. Often personal reccomendation is best. I print a batch every so often and put them into magazines and things which get passed on.

I don't know if anyone has pinned it up but I did take one of the smaller ones down to my doctors surgery when I went and asked if it could be put on a notice baord.

i always talk about the forum to any member of medical staff i see aha, like if they ask whether i need advice or anything.

When i went on my desy day i told everyone about the forum and a lot of them said that they would come to the forum as a lot of them did not no or wanted to no about peeps with the big D!!! ....we even met the founder of diabetes uk who told everyone about this forum....but i got there first as he came at lunch and i told the group in the morning :D

Well done Ant 🙂 I'm guessing you mean the director or chairman of DUK, as the founders were RD Lawrence and HG Wells in the 1930s, so would be a bit doddery (or dead) by now 😉 Was it Richard Lane? Thanks for spreading the word and good to know that he was too!
