Been to chemist said to contact accu check but it’s a Duracell battery surely there’s somewhere and I need it today

They are a standard and common CR2032 battery and are almost always available from anywhere that sells batteries. Any make of battery of that type will do - it does not have to be Duracell, which tend to be more expensive than most. You need two.

I get mine from a local warehouse operation and buy them in strips of half a dozen for very little money.

be careful as if anything goes wrong with the meter accu-chek might not replace it if you aren't using the battery they issue vouchers for which is now Boots batteries xx

Got them from Sainsburys a pack of 6 Duracell, they don’t seem to last long so stocked up.
As need to check regularly at the moment

Glad you found them easily enough.

I was surprised by your comment about Roche getting picky about types @Kaylz - I’ve always just used whichever decent battery brands were on offer for my pump and meters before.

Came from a mother on a Type 1 diabetes Facebook group, she was having trouble with her child's meter and called Roche and they weren't happy that she wasn't using the brand they provide and told her that they only authorise the use of the batteries they supply, I always order my complimentary batteries from Roche no matter how much the other members of this forum have slagged me for it, they are expensive and I have £111 a fortnight to live off and bus fares have to come off that, I just cant afford to pay out of pocket for batteries but am thoroughly fed up of others having a pop at me xx

I always order the service pack when I order pump supplies, which include the batteries for my pump.

Don't think anybody is having a pop at you at all Kaylz. If you can get your batteries from the supplier for free, and you are sufficiently well organised to do it in time, then brilliant.

Its just that batteries are batteries are batteries and if a battery is to a designated standard (AA, AAA, CR2032 or whatever) then it does not matter what make they are. Chances are they came from the same factory anyway. The price is a bit more important. The cheaper batteries work perfectly well but tend not to last as long because they are not as well made but they will still perform to the standard required until they die. The more expensive batteries are not always that much better, especially those that carry heavy advertising costs.

I am afraid it is likely that the member of the facebook group was being fobbed off by somebody who was looking for an excuse to do nothing, or maybe they had tried to fit the wrong battery altogether. It is vitally important that you use a battery with the correct code, something else which looks the same size, but with a different code, will not do.

@Docb yes people on here did have a pop at me as a few members noticed, dissing me because I was taking free batteries and not paying for them

Most companies give out free batteries

Roche customer service are very good and I trust that this is what they were told by their customer service, after all other companies like Freestyle only authorise the use of the Libre on the back of the arm so only authorising the use of a certain brand of battery provided by the meter manufacturer wouldn't be uncommon in the world of diabetes management

Yeh, and I bet they never ever looked for, or expected, discounts or freebies themselves!!!!

Maybe all I am saying is that if anybody (like the OP) gets backed into a corner and needs batteries urgently then you will be OK to get batteries from anywhere provided they carry the same code and you have every right to get a bit peeved with the device manufacturer if they create a fuss over it.

Sorry? I'm not quite sure what your getting to with that first part?

well you take the own risk of the manufacturer not replacing the meter should something go wrong with it, a member on this form also told how their dsn made them aware that Roche won't take responsibility if you don't use the batteries they provide, it's a risk I am not willing to take

No problem Kaylz, I was just surmising that those taking a pop at you would almost certainly take advantage of a discount if it was offered to them. People in glass houses and all that. As long as it does not discomfort anybody else, do what you are comfortable with is what I say. Anybody who can't live with where you get your batteries from is, to me, a little bit sad.

Anyway, I used to have a bike shop and have suffered at first hand the problems associated with suppliers finding nefarious excuses not to deal with things that have gone wrong and this has coloured my attitude to this sort of stuff. When people used ask me what who made the best bikes I would tell them that the difference between the bikes from different brands was nowhere near as significant as the difference in the way different companies behaved. Some were helpful and brilliant, others were obnoxious. There were some bikes I would hesitate to take in to repair because I knew I would get no help from the original supplier. Needless to say I only stocked bikes from the good ones.

Jewelers ?

None of our watches uses a CR2032 - but both of our weighing scales do! In fact neither of my watches are large enough to hold that physical size battery either so I doubt very much if you'd get one at a jewellers. They sell CR032 in Tescos if you want Duracell/EverReady which haven't been hanging round on the shelf gathering dust for years on end. Come on a card of 5. Think they are CR2032s in my elderly Braun gas curling tongs and ditto brush too.

Kaylz - I've never had a meter manufacturer tell me that and whilst I used a meter that you had to put batteries in (cos the one I use now is rechargeable) I used whatever AA or AAA we happened to have at hand at the time. Both Roche pumps I've had have used either AA or AAA but Roche send Lithium ones with the other pump consumables if you order them at the same time. The pump battery (single AAA) has to be replaced every fortnight so I'm glad I don't have to pay for em! (They still work for ages thereafter in anything else so we hang onto em for a while, esp in summer as Pete goes fishing and they fit some headtorches, bite alarms etc so we do get more use out of some of them.)
