Hi All,
Saw the consultant again today. He is pleased with my hba1c result and my cholesterol levels, but not happy that I am still getting hypo's, although I do think they have reduced in number, but quite possibly have got worse in themselves - takes me longer to come round- and seem to go more out of it.
My case has now been heard by a panel (see Alan - special!)
The next step is to put me on Acarbose along with the Metformin. Has anyone on the forum taking Acarbose, and if so did you take it with Metformin? I think it is quite an old drug! I am to start on 50mg slowly and build up to 100g x 3 times per day, along with the metform.
I have been refused Byetta by my PCT (the letter from them was appalling!) The consultant isn't happy but he is tied by the nice guidlines but was hoping the PCT would see me as a special case - in the end we both know it comes down to cost!!
My diet has been tweaked a bit also, still on the low gi diet, but now restricting it to 1300 cals a day (was going to be 1000 but due to exercise I do now at 1300). This is to be as follows:
Breakfast 250 cals
Snack 2 hrs later 100 cals
Lunch 2 hrs later 250 cals
snack 2 hrs later 100 cals
Dinner 500 cals
supper 100 cals
My vitamin d test was also not good again, and also hyperparathyroid not correct - but will look at this in more detail when todays results are back.
So heres to the next 3 months, lets see what happens🙂
