My 640g developed a crack that kept spreading and I know how to put a battery in without any problems, I just called Medtronic help line and a new one will be with me tomorrow morning.

I am pleased with the good service and the offer of help from the person I spoke to.

The Medtronic rep told me last year that they guarantee to get you a replacement within the UK within 24 hours, and 48 hours worldwide.

Maybe a little hyped-up. I visited some islands in the South Pacific a couple of years ago whose only contact with the wider world was by a freighter ship that calls by about once a month, except on those months that they forget to stop - and no airstrip for emergencies either. It was absolutely idyllic there though.
